I know it seems like travel has changed forever, but I want to let you know that you can successfully travel with a couple of extra precautions in place. We both know that an extra set of clothes and all our medication was a must in our carry-on bags in the past. So here are a few extra items to start packing in your carry-on for the best experience in your future travels.
Hand sanitizer is a necessity in carry-on bags, so your hands can stay clean when bathrooms are not readily available. While you can grab a small container to squeeze into your quart-size liquid bag, you have other options. The TSA is currently allowing up to 12 ounces of hand sanitizer per person. This means you can easily throw it into a larger Ziploc bag with no issues. To learn more, just click here.
Simply take this bag out with the quart size bag filled with the rest of your liquids as you go through security. You may find that security will need to screen your hand sanitizer for a moment longer, due to its size. However, those few extra seconds are worth the peace of mind you will have when it comes to cleaning your hands throughout your trip, and you will be happy that you packed this in your carry-on.
While the airlines are doing an excellent job of cleaning in between flights, you will want to pack some disinfectant wipes in your carry-on as well. You can use these wipes to wipe off the chair you sit-in at the airport. You can also use them to wipe down your seat on the plane, tray table, and even the window if you have a window seat. I know that I’ve packed these in my carry-on even before Covid-19.
I can guarantee you will find plenty of ways to use these disinfectant wipes once they make it onto your new carry-on list of things to pack!
In years past, you may have been tempted to accept a travel pillow and blanket from the airlines. However, that is not the best idea for future travel. Therefore, I recommend that you invest in a travel pillow and blanket. Simply pack them in your carry-on bag every time you travel. These two items will ensure you are comfortable during your flight.
I do recommend purchasing items that can be easily washed and disinfected in between uses. That way you can wash them when you get home and they will be ready for future adventures!
You may have always taken snacks with you when you traveled. But if you didn’t, you may want to start. Snacks and beverages were discontinued on flights for a while these last few months and there is no guarantee of when they will be back. While you cannot take drinks through security, you can take any non-liquid snacks through.
A few of my go-to items include dried fruit, granola bars, crackers, cereal bars, and chocolate. These items will ensure you won’t be hungry mid-flight when no other food is available. You can always purchase beverages before you get onto the plane or fill a reusable water bottle with water. Staying hydrated will always give you a great experience, and these are a must for you to pack in your carry-on.
Wearing face masks when out in public has become the new normal. Currently, you must wear a face mask when on an airplane. While one face mask should be fine for your flight, I do suggest packing a spare in your carry-on bag. After all, you never know when the one you are wearing may feel a little yucky after breathing in it for a few hours. Especially since you must wear your face mask in the airport before your flight and during your layovers.
These are the new items you must pack in your carry-on for future travel. As you can see, you won’t spend that much more time throwing these items into your bag. While it may take you a while to remember you need these items, it won’t take you long before you are adding them automatically.
The future of travel might look a little different right now. But you can still have an amazing time when you have a few extra precautions in place. So these are the five items to start packing in your carry-on for the best experience and make those memories with your family and friends while seeing the world!
