As you are planning your vacation in Punta Cana, you may discover that most activities include the beach. This shouldn’t be surprising since Punta Cana’s beaches are spectacular. However, as you are rekindling the love with your spouse, you may want to do something other than lounge on the beach for your next vacation in Punta Cana.

Since I know you want something to do with your significant other, I decided I would search for a few of the best things to do on land in Punta Cana. While you can stay close to your resort for some of them, a couple will take you further inland to explore intriguing areas.

Best Things to Do on Land in Punta Cana

Explore Altos de Chavón

You must travel inland to the town of La Romana to explore Altos de Chavón during your vacation in Punta Cana. Altos de Chavón is a village that was constructed by a Hollywood set designer to look exactly like a medieval village. Stones from a mountain that was demolished were used to create this village back in 1976. It took six years for Altos de Chavón to be finished. As you are exploring, you will discover an amphitheater, art school, and historic church. If you have always wanted to step back in time while on vacation, this is one of the best places in the world to do it!

Cueva de las Maravillas

Cueva de las Maravillas is not much further inland than Altos de Chavon, so you may want to explore both in the same day. Touring this cave system takes approximately an hour and you must be with a guide the entire time. Throughout the cave system are petroglyphs and pictographs from the Taíno community. All the artwork is diverse, but mostly includes humans, animals, plants, and numerous abstract designs. The best feature within this cave system is the Water Mirror Gallery. It is there where you can see the Great Panel, which depicts a Taíno funeral procession, reflected onto the artificial lake.

Basilica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia

There are quite a few unique churches around the world, but none will be as intriguing as the Basilica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia in Punta Cana. You can spend hours staring at the massive arch on the exterior, or at least until your significant other drags you away! Inside is even more spectacular with the painting of the Virgin Mary at the altar. This church is popular all year long, but during the month of January, it is even more crowded. It is during that month when the locals around the country make the pilgrimage to the church to pay their respects to the Virgin Mary.

Off Road Vehicle Tours

Are you looking to add a few adventures to your vacation in Punta Cana to really spice things up in your relationship? If you are, then an off-road vehicle tour should be at the top of your list of things to do on land in Punta Cana. Your guide will take you all around Punta Cana as they share information about important sites.

Manatí Park

If you are adamant that you want to stay on land while vacationing in Punta Cana, then a trip to Manatí Park is a must. This park allows you to interact with many different birds and reptiles. There are multiple animal shows held each day, but you won’t want to forget to watch a Taíno dance performance during your visit too.

Cultural Safari Tours

If you love wild animals and local culture, one of the cultural safari tours in the Dominican Republic is going to be perfect for your Punta Cana vacation. Your tour guide will keep you laughing all day, as you meet the locals, learn about the cultures on the island, and taste delectable local cuisine.

ChocoMuseo

You cannot vacation in Punta Cana and not take the time to learn about how chocolate is made. The ChocoMuseo is the best place to learn about the chocolate-making process. And if you plan your trip carefully, you can even attend a chocolate-making workshop.

These are only some of the best things to do on land in Punta Cana. There are so many others that you can choose from for your Punta Cana vacation. I would love to customize a Punta Cana vacation itinerary for you, so you can rekindle the romance, have a few thrilling adventures, and get the relaxation you desire!
