Romantic vacations, adventurous vacations, and relaxing vacations are all possible when you take the time to travel as a couple. When you are traveling as a couple, the goal is to find things to do you will both enjoy. And yet, some amazing vacations will have you enjoying a few hours away from each other, as you simply relish a little time alone. There are really no right or wrong ways to travel as a couple. But I have discovered a few tips that will make your next couples’ vacation the best one yet.
Couples’ vacations are always about compromise. You may both have activities you want to do together. But you know there will be certain activities the other person is not thrilled about. This is when you must compromise. Maybe the person wanting to do that activity does it, while the other has some time at the pool.
Or maybe you both do an activity the other person doesn’t want to do at the same time.
There are endless possibilities. If you want the most amazing vacation when traveling as a couple, you must work together on the planning process. This can even include some downtime, so you have a chance to take those adventures you discover once you arrive.
It can be slightly challenging to create an entire couples’ vacation itinerary. As a travel advisor, I can take both your needs and wants into consideration and create an itinerary you both will love. Contact me today to set up a time to learn how I can help.
Work emails and projects, bills, and the kids are always going to be on your mind. However, when you take the time to travel as a couple, it is important to leave all those worries behind. This is the time to escape the real world and focus on each other.
Turn off your work emails. Make arrangements for others to cover for you on projects at work. And plan for someone to take care of the kids and their needs while you are gone. (Yes, even kids in their early 20s will need a “parent” while you are gone. So, make sure they have the contact info for someone who is willing to step in while you are on a romantic vacation.)
Keeping relationships filled with romance can be tricky when you are stressed out, working too much, and having to deal with all the problems that come with life. Adding a little romance to a vacation while traveling as a couple may seem difficult, but it isn’t.
Adding extra romance could mean arranging a candlelit dinner down at the beach or at a romantic restaurant. Having champagne waiting in your room with chocolate covered strawberries can also get the romance started.
I can help with other romantic options when I plan your next vacation as a couple.
There is no better way to add romance to a vacation than by planning a little surprise. Or a big surprise! While you should always plan your couples’ vacations together, there is nothing wrong with adding a little surprise to your time away from home.
Romantic dinners, spa treatments, or even a drawn bubble bath ready to sink into are all little surprises that can be easily arranged. You know what your partner likes, so surprise them accordingly.
Whether you try a new activity, eat a new food, or try a new drink, I recommend you try new experiences while traveling as a couple. You never know what you will fall in love with together or what might make you both laugh uncontrollably. And you could learn something you never knew about your partner.
So, embrace new experiences during this time away from home. They will all create memories you will remember for a lifetime.
We all need a time out occasionally. Take one during your couples’ vacation. You can each do an activity without the other. Maybe one of you wants to go ziplining, while the other reads by the pool.
Maybe you want a nap, and your partner wants to grab a quick workout. Simply let each other have their space for a little bit and then share what you each did when you are back together.
You can learn a lot about a destination from the locals. One of the best ways to immerse yourself into a destination is to talk to the locals and learn where their favorite hidden gems are located. Ask about their favorite foods, drinks, and even restaurants too.
I have found so many incredible places by doing this when I travel. And I now share those places with my clients.
Your entire vacation while traveling as a couple does not need to be go-go-go. You can easily plan for a lazy day, so you can recharge. You can order room service, watch a movie, or hang out down by the pool. Maybe you will decide to stay in bed for most of the day.
The goal is to do what makes you both relaxed and happy during your lazy day of vacation.
These are 8 tips for having an amazing vacation while traveling as a couple. I’m sure there are others, but these will get you started with enjoying your couples’ vacation.
