Are you finally at the point in your life where you can take a vacation where you want to go? No more necessary trips to Disney and Universal, because the kids want to go there. Instead, you can choose to explore destinations like the Eastern Mediterranean. And participate in activities you enjoy. The best part is you can do all this from the comfort of a cruise ship! No unpacking at different hotels each night in order to see more than one destination. No searching for the best restaurants. And no responsibilities like making the bed every morning. Wow! This trip is sounding better and better, isn’t it?! Anyway, are you wondering what you could do during romantic cruises to the Eastern Mediterranean? Today, I am going to share a few of the possibilities.
Romantic cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean include destinations like Athens, Mykonos, Rhodes, Santorini, and Zakynthos in Greece, Ephesus in Turkey, Dubrovnik in Croatia, Kotor in Montenegro, and Venice in Italy. Each destination sounds fascinating, and I guarantee you will love the activities you can do in every port.
In Athens, you can visit The Acropolis, Parthenon, and the National Archaeological Museum. A day at the beach may be just what you need when you arrive on the island of Mykonos. Although, a guided walk along the maze of streets is another possibility if you want to learn more about the island.
Over in Ephesus, Turkey, you must check out the UNESCO World Heritage ruins of Ephesus. This ancient city has a long way to go before it is completely uncovered. However, it is twenty percent complete, so you will have plenty to see. Other fascinating historical sites include the Temple of Artemis and the Great Theater.
Making new friends is possible when you spend time on the streets in Rhodes. This is another area of Greece that is filled with history. No worries, there are still plenty of ways to ignite that flame in the romance department during your visit. Even if you are simply wandering around the medieval Street of Knights.
A picnic at the beach will be in order when you arrive on the island of Santorini. Sit back, relax, and look out towards all the white buildings with blue roofs. It’s a sight to see and one you won’t want to miss.
More beach time can be found in Zakynthos. This popular summer resort area has plenty of popular beaches to choose from. This is the place to spend your days participating in thrilling water sports. Especially if you are on the beaches of Nikolaos, Tsilivi, or Alykanas.
Walking on the walls in Dubrovnik can be romantic. Yet so can wandering around the streets of this medieval town. Grab a selfie by a fountain to remember this romantic cruise.
An excursion in Kotor will have you see historical landmarks like the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon. This may be an excellent day to spend part of the day on the ship, while the rest of the passengers are in town. You will be amazed at how quiet the ship will be. And you will have your choice of available times at the spa.
Most Eastern Mediterranean cruises finish their time in Venice, Italy. I recommend adding a few days to your romantic vacation, so you can explore this destination. Romance is everywhere during the Venetian gondola rides. Grab a kiss as you go underneath the Bridge of Sighs. It guarantees eternal love!
Walking tours are an excellent way to see many of the popular attractions in a short amount of time. However, if you don’t want to be around too many people, you can always head out on your own. Make sure you spend a little bit of time in St. Mark’s Square. This is the most beautiful square in Venice.
After checking out all the nearby attractions, you can grab a drink from a nearby café. Then sit in the square and watch the world pass on by.
Okay, so now you know what you can mostly see while on a romantic cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean. What about some romantic, and/or thrilling, activities though? There are plenty!
When you are off the ship, I recommend considering some of these activities:
Lots of your time will be spent off the ship when you take a romantic cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean. However, that doesn’t mean the romance needs to end when you get back on the ship.
Thankfully, cruise ships have plenty of romantic options. You can have breakfast delivered to your room in the morning on some ships. If your ship offers this, take advantage of it! There is nothing better than those quiet moments in the morning with no interruptions.
Days can be spent at the spa or the pool. Nights will be filled with live shows and music at the bars. Don’t forget the candlelit dinners or long walks around the decks under the moon and stars. So many possibilities that a weeklong cruise may simply not be enough for you. Especially now that you remember why you fell in love with your partner in the first place.
One of my favorite things about romantic cruises to the Eastern Mediterranean is you can decide what you want to do and what you want to skip. I love helping my clients by planning the perfect romantic cruise for them. I would love to help you and make this the best vacation you have ever had without the kids!
