Do you love to cruise the open waters of the ocean? Do you feel it is the perfect way to explore a country without changing hotel rooms, worrying about meals, and dealing with different modes of transportation? If you answered yes to all those questions, you will be thrilled with a romantic cruise over in Europe. I discovered the perfect cruise for couples in this part of the world. You can cruise to Spain. You can also see France and Italy during the same cruise! This romantic vacation is an amazing way to see three countries, while rekindling that spark in your love life. During this romantic cruise, you will spend time together, laugh, and remember why you fell in love.
This romantic cruise is seven nights and eight days. You will begin this romantic adventure in Rome, Italy. From there, the ship will sail to Corsica, other destinations in Italy, Cannes in France, and finally Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona in Spain. In between it all, you will have one day at sea to simply relax and enjoy the romantic ambiance of the ship.
Throughout this entire cruise, you will find plenty of things to do. You can spend time on the ship, eating delicious cuisine and being pampered at the spa. I do recommend participating in an excursion at each of the ports of call. Although, you can skip a day if you want to spend extra time on the ship when it is practically empty.
Your time in Rome can be spent at The Colosseum, Sistine Chapel, and St Peter’s Basilica. The Colosseum is where gladiator games took place, as thousands of people sat and watched. You can see the maze of walkways and cages that held the animals below the circular floor.
Michelangelo painted his heart out on the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel. Pay close attention to the details before heading over to St. Peter’s Basilica.
If you have a little extra time, head over to Trevi Fountain. While Roman lore has you falling in love with a Roman and marrying them when tossing in two or three coins, you can stick to tossing in one. That will ensure you will enjoy more time in Rome with your true love in the future.
A stop at Ajaccio, Corsica will have you visiting the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. Quite a few of his personal items, as well as other memorabilia, has been donated to the local museums by his family. You can see these displays when you visit the Musée Fesch, Maison Bonaparte, and Salons Napoléoniens.
A truly romantic day can be spent at Plage d’Argent. A quick trip on a speedboat is the best way to reach this stunning beach area from the port in Ajaccio. There won’t be too many other people around on the soft white sand that wraps around part of the bay.
Another romantic option is to follow the Route des Sanguinaires all the way to Pointe de Parata. The journey is full of spectacular views, as well as numerous opportunities to steal a kiss.
When you stop in the small village of Portofino, Italy, you must take the time to see the Church of St. Martin and the Castello Brown Fortress. Make sure you take your camera with you, because you will also discover many colorful houses throughout the village.
This is also one of the best places to go shopping during this romantic cruise to Spain, France, and Italy. You will find many luxury boutiques in the alleys and near the marina. Don’t skip over the local shops either. They sell unique quality products you won’t be able to resist.
If you are searching for an adventure on this romantic vacation, I recommend heading over to Cinque Terre National Park. You can go hiking on the footpaths, enjoy a picnic, or simply sit and enjoy the romantic scenery.
Of course, if you don’t want to travel to the national park, you could always walk up the hill to the lighthouse. On the way back, stop for ice cream in Piazzetta.
When you arrive in port here, you will have the option to go to Pisa or Florence. Each destination offers plenty of romantic opportunities and adventures. Over in Pisa, you can check out the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Piazza del Duomo.
In Florence, you can explore museums like the Galleria dell’Academica. Inside, you will find Michelangelo’s Statue of David. You will want to make sure you make time to visit the Ponte Vecchio, which translates to Old Bridge. This bridge was originally constructed in 995 and rebuilt in 1345. There are multiple jewelry stores tucked away inside the bridge. Visit them and choose a piece of jewelry to reconfirm your love for each other.
You may have loved shopping in Portofino, but nothing holds a candle to the shops at La Croisette in Cannes. This is one of the most famous promenades in the entire world. If you are tired of shopping, you may want to try to win it big at the Casino Barrière Les Princes.
Romantic walks can be taken through the La Croix des Gardes too.
If you do nothing else when you arrive in Palma de Mallorca, you should at least take a walk along some of the historic streets. Along those streets, you will discover food markets, art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants. You should also check out La Seu, which is a Gothic Roman Catholic Cathedral.
The rest of your day can be spent relaxing on a white sandy beach or back at the ship if you need a little downtime.
Your last full day of vacation will be in Barcelona. I will make sure you have a later flight out, so you can enjoy the sights of this beautiful city. This is where you can wander around Park Güell, see the Sagrada Familia Basilica, and visit the Picasso Museum. You may also want to walk around Barri Gòtic, or Gothic Quarter. There are many cathedrals in this area.
These are the best things to see and do while you are on a romantic cruise to Spain, France, and Italy. Each destination will wow you, while also allowing you to rekindle your romance. I can plan all your excursions for you, so you get the most out of this romantic vacation.
