Curacao is a beautiful island in the Southern Caribbean. It is near the islands of Bonaire and Aruba. Which makes it part of the ABC Islands. Heading to this island with your partner or friends will actually have you visiting the Netherlands. This is because Curacao became a constituent country within the Netherlands back in 2010. Today, I am sharing what you should know for your epic vacation in Curacao. This will ensure you have a fabulous time, as you relax, unwind, and completely enjoy your time away from home.
The weather in Curacao is warm all year round. However, you will find the warmest temperatures on this island in September.
There is also very little rainfall on this island. The months with the most rainfall are usually September through November. Oh, and in case you are wondering, Curacao is outside the hurricane belt. So, there is very little chance a hurricane will hit the island.
If you are wondering what the average temperature is on Curacao, it is 76 degrees Fahrenheit.
Any time of year would be perfect for an epic vacation in Curacao. However, I prefer visiting during the off season. This is between the months of May and November.
It is less crowded during these months. This means you have a better chance at reserving the accommodations of your dreams without booking months in advance.
So, if you are searching for a last-minute getaway, Curacao during these months would be a perfect option! Oh, and check my blog post about when the best time is to book your warm weather vacation. The answer may surprise you!
There are three official languages on the island of Curacao. Those languages are English, Dutch, and Papiamentu. The last one is a mixture of Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, and English. You will also find people who speak solely Spanish on this island.
If you are shopping in Curacao, you will need to be prepared to pay in the Netherlands Antillean guilder. You can exchange US dollars for the local currency. Or you can simply pay for your purchases using a credit card. Just make sure you alert your credit card company that you are traveling. If you don’t, you will be taking the risk that they will decline the charge due to potential fraud.
As I am planning your vacation in Curacao, we will need to discuss how you want to get around the island. Some of the hotels offer shuttles for guests. But those usually only go to certain areas.
The same is true for the public buses. The buses normally only run in Willemstad. And their schedule is not as convenient as the bus schedules back here in the US.
I recommend renting a car for your vacation in Curacao. This will ensure you can drive to where you want to go on the days you are out exploring.
Whether you are on a trip with your friends, or trying to rekindle the romance with your partner, a vacation in Curacao will involve some beach time. Thankfully, Curacao is known for its beaches. There are more than thirty-five beaches on this island.
The average water temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This will be perfect whether you are swimming, snorkeling, diving, or participating in any other water sport.
If you are searching for the best beach in Curacao, consider Kokomo Beach if you desire tranquility. If action is more your speed, Jan Thiel Beach has it all!
This is most of what you should know for your epic vacation in Curacao. So, whether you are searching for a friends’ trip or a romantic vacation, this island has everything you need.
