Must-See Attractions on the Savannah Hop-On Hop-Off Trolley Routes

The Savannah History Museum 

This Savannah museum can be found inside the Savannah Visitor Information Center. The exhibits display items from 1733 through the present. This is an excellent way to learn a little about the city before you head out to explore the rest. 

Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace

Anything and everything you wanted to know about the Girl Scouts, and Juliette Gordon Low, can be found in this museum. This building is also a National Historic Landmark, so plan on being wowed with the architectural details. 

Mercer-Williams House

If you are an avid reader, you will know that the Mercer-Williams House was a major part of the book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. This house has been completely restored and is filled with William’s own furniture and art. 

City Market

The City Market in Savannah was opened back in 1755. At that time, farmers and fishermen sold everything they grew, raised, and caught. While the original building was destroyed by a fire, the new building allows people to gather and shop together once again. 

Pirate’s House a Must-see attraction in Savannah

Reliving the middle of the 1700s is as easy as walking into the Pirate’s House to eat a meal. There are fifteen dining rooms in all and each one displays artifacts from the pirate period in the city. The menu at this restaurant includes authentic Georgian cuisine. 

The Riverwalk

You can’t spend time in Savannah and not take advantage of the true beauty of the Riverwalk. This cobblestone lined street can be found between the river and the old cotton warehouses. The warehouses have been restored and are now the home to numerous restaurants and stores. When you are down at the Riverwalk, you must take a Savannah Riverboat Cruise as well. 

Oglethorpe Bench

You may not think a bench carries any significance, but this one does down in Georgia. This is the exact spot where General James Edward Oglethorpe slept in a tent on his first night in Georgia. Pay close attention when you reach this bench on Bay Street because there are steps that lead up to it. 

And speaking of benches, if you are looking for the bench from Forrest Gump, you won’t find it in Chippewa Square. However, you will find one of them in the Savannah History Museum. Don’t let the absence of the bench stop you from exploring this square. The gardens and architecture are extraordinary. And over on Bull Street is one of the best cafés in the entire city.
