One of the most beautiful destinations in the world is the Galapagos Islands. So, why not plan a romantic vacation in this stunning place in the world? I recommend taking a romantic cruise to the Galapagos. This way, you can enjoy the beauty of the islands, while exploring more than one. Plus, your accommodations travel with you, so you never need to unpack and pack in between destinations. Oh, and I shouldn’t forget to mention that you will have lots of time to rekindle the romance during a seven-night cruise. Imagine having all that alone time to truly remember why you both fell in love.
Your romantic cruise will begin with you flying into the main airport of the Galapagos Islands. This airport is located on the island of Baltra. I usually plan for your arrival the night before the cruise ship leaves, so you can wander around and take in your surroundings.
Your first stop on this romantic cruise to the Galapagos may be on North Seymour Island. This island is to the north of Baltra. This is where a large colony of frigate birds live. Iguanas and sea lions also frequent the shorelines.
The most popular excursion on this island is the scenic zodiac tour. Sign up early or you will miss out on the best activity North Seymour Island has to offer.
Santa Fe Island is another island that is frequently included in romantic cruises to the Galapagos. This is a small island with lots of wildlife. You can take a romantic walk around the island. Try to pay attention to each other, as you talk and point out everything you see. Some of the sightings will include lava lizards, Galapagos hawks, and the Galapagos mockingbird.
If you don’t want to stay on land, head out into the water for a little snorkeling adventure.
This charming town can be found on the island of Cristobal. Before heading out on a walk to enjoy the scenic vistas, take time to explore the interpretation center. You will also want to do a little shopping before heading back to the ship for the rest of the day.
Over on the island of Floreana, you can visit the Bahia Post Office. This is the perfect place to mail all those postcards you have written to friends and family back home. The postcards will be picked up by outbound ships, so they can be mailed from the mainland. Don’t worry, they will be postmarked from the Galapagos!
You may want to head over to Cormorant Point. It is a lagoon where flamingos and white cheeked pintail ducks live. The sand has a green hue, making it unique. Keep an eye out for sea turtle nests, as you are walking along the shoreline.
Elizabeth Bay is located on Isabela Island. This island is the largest one of all the Galapagos Islands. Therefore, everyone will definitely stop there on a romantic cruise to the Galapagos.
On land, you can take a tour to see the Galapagos penguins. You won’t have too much time to spend though. Because before long, it will be time to board the ship and go in search of dolphins and whales.
Don’t worry though, because you normally receive two days on Isabela Island. So, the second day can be spent checking out the volcanoes on the northern coast. The Sierra Negra and Cerro Azul are surrounded by black pahoehoe lava. That lava has created tidal pools, as well as lava pools around the mangroves.
Santa Cruz Island is the Galapagos Island with the highest population. Start by exploring the Charles Darwin Research Station and the National Park Service tortoise breeding center. At the breeding center, you may have the chance to say hi to Lonesome George. He is the most famous resident on the island.
Take a walk to enjoy the romantic ambiance of the island before returning to the ship.
It is all about snorkeling with marine life at Gardner Bay in Espanola. You will both have the chance to swim with sea turtles, rays, and possibly even white tipped reef sharks.
If that doesn’t interest you, simply get a little downtime on the sandy beach.
These are only some of the fascinating activities you can enjoy when you take a romantic cruise to the Galapagos. Each cruise is different, but I will help you find the one that will be perfect for rekindling the romance. Take this chance to travel alone and fall in love all over again. You won’t regret it.
