Do you love attending festivals? Well, did you know you can easily attend a festival during a romantic vacation in Hawaii? Tons of festivals are held each month on the Hawaiian Islands. So, combine your love of travel with a festival or two. The result will be the best romantic vacation you have ever taken! To get you started, I am going to share a list of Hawaiian festivals you might want to consider while planning your next romantic vacation.
Chinese New Year Festival – Sometimes this festival is held in February. It is dependent on when the Chinese New Year falls. This festival includes parades, lion dance processions, and street festivals.
Ipu Cultural Festival – This Hawaiian festival is held on the Big Island. It celebrates the diver culture that surrounds the Hawaiian gourd.
Ka Molokai Makahiki Festival – This festival on the island of Molokai celebrates the annual harvest.
New Year’s Mochitsuki Festival – This is the annual mochi pounding festival. It is held in Central Oahu.
New Year’s Ohana Festival – This annual festival is held at the Japanese Cultural Center in Honolulu.
Hawaii Avocado Tasting Festival – Taste as many avocados as you want during this festival on the Big Island. This event is usually held at the Amy Greenwell Botanical Gardens.
Great Maui Whale Festival – This festival is a major event in Maui. It seems to cover a bunch of events that are held during the month of February each year. Some of those events include the Maui Run for the Whales half marathon, Maui Day Whale Celebration, Great Whale Count, and the Maui Parade of Whales. If you love whales, this is an excellent month to plan a romantic vacation in Hawaii.
Waimea Town Celebration – It is all about celebrating the southwest coast of Kauai during this Hawaiian festival. You will love attending the Kilohana Long Distance Canoe Race, the Waimea Roundup Rodeo, and numerous other contests.
Honolulu Festival – Activities during this festival include dance performances and art demonstrations. There are vendors of all kinds, as well as a parade down the main road in Waikiki.
Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival – This event is held in Waimea Town and other area locations.
Kona Brewers Festival – Craft beer, island cuisine, and wonderful music is just some of what you will find at this Brewers Festival.
Kawaii Kon – This Hawaiian festival is all about Japanese anime, manga, and Japanese culture. It is held over the course of three days. If you love anime, you will love this festival filled with costume contests, tabletop games, and a formal ball.
Big Island Chocolate Festival – It is all about the chocolate at this festival in Hawaii. Go on a cacao tour, attend a chef tasting demonstration, or dip a few treats into a chocolate fountain.
Hawaii International Film Festival Spring Showcase – HIFF is an excellent place to watch films created by up-and-coming film producers.
Waikiki Spam Jam Festival – If you, or your partner, love Spam, you must attend the Waikiki Spam Jam Festival! You can try lots of Spam inspired meals. Shop for Spam merchandise. And meet other Spam loving people.
Kauai Steel Guitar Festival – This festival will be held at the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort and the Kukui Grove Center in 2023. Steel guitarists and other musicians will showcase their talents during this Hawaiian festival.
Waikoloa Lei Day Festival – The origin and art of lei-making is shared on this special day. Most festivities take place at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott, Queens’ Marketplace, and Kings’ Shops. Shop at the craft fair. Attend a lei-making class. Or simply listen to live music and watch the hula performers.
Kapalua Wine and Food Festival – Do you love trying new wines? How about tasty dishes? Well, you can have both when you attend this wine and food festival! This is one of the best romantic things to do while on vacation in Hawaii.
Hawaii Kuauli Pacific and Asia Cultural Festival – This three-day festival is filled with cultural expressions, food, fashion, a hula ho’ike, and a firkenife competition. Definitely an event you won’t want to miss!
Summer Fun Run and Festival at Kualoa Ranch Private Nature Reserve – You will get your exercise in when you attend this summer fun run and festival. Start the day off with a run before sitting back and relaxing while listening to the live music.
Maui Film Festival – This is another one of the film festivals held on the Hawaiian Islands every year.
Koloa Plantation Days – Numerous events are held to share the history of the Koloa Plantation.
Duke’s Oceanfest – This is a watersports festival that is held on the shores of Waikiki. It celebrates the life of Duke Kahanamoku, who was a Hawaiian surfing legend. He also participated in other watersports and excelled at them all. This is an action-packed week, so keep that in mind if you want to attend.
Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival – Do you love to watch the hula? If you do, you must attend this hula festival.
Korean Festival – One of the best ways to learn about Korean culture, while tasting Korean food and listening to music is by attending this festival.
Aloha Festivals – Multiple events are held during the Aloha Festivals in Hawaii. There is a floral parade, royal court investiture, and annual block party.
Okinawan Festival – This festival is designed to share the history, culture, and food of the Okinawans.
Maui Plantation Days Festival – The Maui Sugar Plantation Days Festival is held during the month of October every year. During this festival, you will learn about life on the plantation. Of course, there is also food and multiple performances.
Kauai Chocolate and Coffee Festival – You can’t go wrong when you combine chocolate and coffee for a day of fun. The Gala Kickoff Dinner includes an entire menu filled with cacao and coffee.
Hawaii Food and Wine Festival – More than one hundred fifty chefs from around the world take turns arriving to participate in this food and wine festival. This used to be a three-day event. However, it now takes place on three different Hawaiian Islands.
Kona Coffee Cultural Festival – Dozens of events, all focusing on Kona coffee, will be available to you throughout the ten days of this festival. You can train to be a barista. Wander through a coffee-themed art exhibit. Or take a farm tour.
Annual Feast on the Beach – The Annual Feast on the Beach is an excellent way to spend a romantic vacation in Hawaii. All the foods are locally sourced. The food stations are placed around the sand on the shores of Anaehoomalu Bay. Walk in the sand. Eat till your hearts content. And drink some beer, wine, or Kona coffee too.
This is just a partial list of Hawaiian festivals to consider when planning your next romantic vacation. There are many others, and we can work together to find one that you want to attend the most.
