If you are like most people, life has been getting in the way of all the little things. You know what I am talking about. The long conversations with your partner without interruptions. Impromptu romantic walks. Even a quick bite to eat without the kids. You can change all that by planning a romantic vacation in Frankfurt, Germany. Take the time now to rekindle your romance and visit some of the best attractions in Frankfurt.
Romantic walks are possible when you take the time to wander through historic Römerberg. Rathaus, which is City Hall, is located in this historic area. Learn all about the history of this historic space during your romantic vacation. Oh, and if you happen to take a Christmas river cruise in Germany, you will have the opportunity to check out the Christmas Market in Römerberg.
If you really want to enhance your senses during your vacation in Frankfurt, I recommend checking out the Dialog Museum. This is a unique museum, because the four exhibit rooms are completely dark. Your tour of the museum will take one hour. During the tour, you will experience what it would be like for a blind person to “see” the museum.
If the Dialog Museum doesn’t check off all the boxes for you, the Museum of Modern Art might. This museum contains an extensive art collection. The architecture of the museum is also unique. It is shaped like a triangle, which is why the locals call it Frankfurter Küche.
In Frankfurt, one of the best places to go shopping is an area known as Zeil. It is considered the 5th Avenue of Germany. Some of the stores line the street. Others are located within the Zeil Galerie, which is a ten-floor shopping mall.
Another incredible shopping adventure can be found at the Frankfurter Flohmarkt. It is a Saturday flea market. One week it is at the Schaumainkai promenade. The next it is near the Osthafen docklands. The market rotates between the two locations throughout the year.
There are hundreds of stalls filled with all sorts of items. You can spend an hour, or an entire day, perusing it all. The best time to shop though is during the Christmas season. The merchandise being sold all changes to holiday items. This is another thing you can experience during a romantic Christmas river cruises in Germany.
The Palmengarten, or Botanical Garden, was founded back in 1868. Romance is everywhere within this garden. You can hold hands with your partner, as you wander along the pathways that cover fifty acres. Don’t forget to wander into the greenhouses as well, so you don’t miss any of the six thousand plant species.
Paulskirche, or St. Paul’s Church, was constructed between 1789 and 1833. This beautiful church is no longer used as a church. Instead, it has been turned into an exhibition space for large events. You can still wander around and see how it might have felt if you could have been married in this church.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was one of Germany’s most important writers. He lived within this house. The house was completely destroyed during World War II. But it has now been completely restored with original furnishings and belongings from Goethe’s family. Make sure you take the time to check out his writing desk. It is where he wrote, The Sorrows of Young Werther.
One of the best attractions in Frankfurt is the Main Tower. It is the best way to get a bird’s eye view of the city. I recommend a romantic dinner at the Main Tower Restaurant and Lounge. This restaurant is on the very top floor of the tower. It is best to plan your dinner for after sunset, so you can see the city lit up all around you.
The Kleinmarkthalle is the perfect place to grab a picnic lunch, snack, or dinner. It is a traditional German market filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, smoked sausages, cheese, and wine. You can even grab flowers to increase the romantic vibe in your room.
Many people don’t think of the Kleinmarkthalle as an attraction. But I consider it one of the best attractions in Frankfurt.
These are some of the best attractions to visit in Frankfurt, Germany during your next romantic vacation. There are so many ways to see these attractions in Frankfurt, but I can help you find the best option for your next trip.
