The entire island of Lanai used to be a pineapple plantation. The pineapples may be long gone. But that doesn’t mean the beauty of this island has disappeared. Instead, it only means that the locals know how to preserve and protect the land to keep it looking as amazing as it did in the past. If you are searching for a romantic vacation in a destination where there are five-star resorts, beautiful landscape, and serene settings, Lanai should be at the top of your list. Today, I am going to share some of the things you can do during a romantic vacation in Lanai.

Romantic Vacation in Lanai

Relax at Hulopoe Bay

Hulopoe Bay is one of the most popular destinations on the island of Lanai. You can easily head to this bay for a day to relax on the sand.

If relaxing isn’t your thing, head into the water to snorkel with marine life near the reefs or go swimming. Keep in mind the water in this bay is rough during the winter months. So, it is best to stay out of the water if you visit during that time of the year.

However, the winter months are the perfect time to look for humpback whales and dolphins swimming through Hulopoe Bay.

Before you leave Hulopoe Bay, take a twenty-minute walk over to Sweetheart Rock. This massive rock can be seen rising out of the ocean. It is perfect for taking selfies of your romantic vacation in Lanai.

Drive a Jeep Along the Munro Trail

If you happen to have a very clear day during your romantic vacation in Lanai, I recommend you head out in a Jeep on the Munro Trail. This trail is almost thirteen miles long. During your drive, you can see forests, the ocean, and canyons. The best part though is the fact that on clear days, you can see all six of the main Hawaiian Islands.

It is possible to hike this trail too. So, if you and your partner are looking for an adventure, hiking is a possibility.

Snuggle with Cats at the Lanai Cat Sanctuary

Romantic Vacation in Lanai - Cats in Lanai

Animal lovers may want to take a few minutes out of their romantic vacation in Lanai to visit the Lanai Cat Sanctuary. This sanctuary started with twenty-five rescue cats and is now home to more than seven hundred of them.

During your visit, you can play with as many cats as you wish. The hard part will be trying to not take one home with you!

Be Shocked During a Visit to the Garden of the Gods

You would think that with a name like Garden of the Gods, this would be a beautiful, lush place to visit. Imagine your surprise when you arrive to find only red dust filled with massive rocks and boulders! Don’t worry, you can still find beauty here during your visit if you take the time to look for it.

Check Out the Poaiwa Petroglyphs

The Poaiwa Petroglyphs are only a short half mile trip away from Shipwreck Beach. During your short hike into the Poaiwa Valley, you will see numerous petroglyphs carved into boulders. Many of the petroglyphs are faded, so take your time to really look at them. You won’t want to miss something exciting because you were in a rush!
